International activities of the Institute are carried out in two directions:
The Institute develops a broad and fruitful international work. Currently, the institute cooperates with international organizations such as WHO, the Northern Dimension Partnership in Public Health and Social Well-being (NDPHS), the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, USAID, Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS ), PSI, CIDA, BSSSC, PSI and others, and in the last 10 years has worked with the UK DFID, EPOS Health Management, World Bank and others. Projects on inter-institutional agreements are also being developed: with Imperial College London (UK), CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention U.S.), URC (United States), IRDES (France), NI-CO (Northern Ireland), Institut Catala de la Salut ( Spain), University of Ulster (UK), NIVEL (Netherlands), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), University of Klaipeda (Lithuania).
Big joint international projects are developed and maintained on the most important issues of improving public health, health systems development and information support in the field of health care.
By assignment of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and with support from WHO, TACIS and CIDA the Institute has developed and maintains two federal databases on health care reform in Russian Federation subjects and on results of international projects implemented in Russia - "Implementation of health care reform in the subjects of the Russian Federation" and "Library of projects in health - "Zdravinform". Through the Internet, these databases provide an opportunity for federal and regional health care institutions and Federal compulsory medical insurance funds to receive complete and accurate information on health reform and on introduction of managerial innovations in certain regions and in Russia in general, and to use this positive experience and achievements of international projects. Developers of new projects and innovations can also determine what has been done, what problems have not been solved, what new projects and programs they can plan and what regions involve.
Staff of the Division of International Relations provide to federal structures, Russian institutes, bodies and agencies in health information and literature in Russian and foreign languages on health care and public health issues and health reform in foreign countries, quarterly release themed electronic newsletter, which is sent out by e-mail on a subscription basis. The Department has developed and constantly updated with new documents Internet - Information system "WHO Documentation Centre" with annotations in Russian.
In cooperation with the CBSS and TACIS and based on the experience of monitoring the project on health care reform in the framework of the World Bank loan, Centre for monitoring and evaluation of projects and programs in health care (M&E Center) was established in the institute. The Center started its work on a permanent basis as the Center for monitoring and evaluation of the Global Fund project GLOBUS "Global Efforts Against AIDS", acting in 10 regions of Russia. To monitor the project M & E GLOBE Center has developed a special Internet portal SIMONA.
Institute staff participate and present papers on international conferences and seminars on important health issues, as well as organize and conduct international conferences and seminars on health care reform in our country.
Department of international cooperation development collects and analyzes information on the activities of international organizations in Russia and abroad as well, conducts monitoring and evaluation of the development of international health care and medical science in general.
Staff of Department of monitoring of international projects and programs analyze information on international projects, maintain federal database, as well as interact with the health authorities in the regions participating in international projects. The Department has Centre of monitoring and evaluation of russian projects in the framework of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The main focus of work of the Department of international scientific and medical information is to provide Russian specialists in medicine and public health researchers by WHO materials and formation of information array on social hygiene and public health organization issues.
Another line of work - Information technologies in international cooperation, within the framework of which advanced technologies for information support for management, monitoring and evaluation of international programs and projects are being developed.
